About the citizenship test

The law changed on 6 June 2026. Knowledge of Swedish and of Swedish society is now a requirement for Swedish citizenship. UHR writes and runs the test. Migrationsverket handles the application. Checked 18 October 2026.

The test is in Swedish, on paper. Each question has four answers, and one is correct. The first civics test was held on 15 August 2026. It was a trial, and UHR says the time was generous.
