Test day
From the letter to the day itself. We mark what has been checked, and what you should read yourself at UHR.

1
Check whether you must take the test
The law changed on 6 June 2026. Knowledge of Swedish and of Swedish society is now a requirement. UHR writes the test. Whether you must take it is in your case at Migrationsverket. Read their page. We do not state an age range here, because their page has not confirmed one. Last checked 18 October 2026.

Wait for the letter from Migrationsverket
You can register only after a letter from Migrationsverket. Without the letter, you cannot. Keep it. It says what applies to you. Source: UHR. Checked 18 October 2026.

Study Sverige i fokus
The test is based on Sverige i fokus. It has an introduction and 13 chapters, as PDF and MP3. UHR made it with Skolverket. The corrected version is dated 10 August 2026. We write our own questions and cite the page. We do not host their PDF. Checked 18 October 2026.

The evening before
Still to check: the time and place are in your notice, not here. Set out valid ID. Check how you will get there, and go to bed on time. We do not say which aids are allowed until you have read UHR’s current rules.

The test itself
The test is in Swedish, on paper. Each question has four answers, and one is correct. On 15 August 2026 there were about 60 questions and 90 minutes. That was only that sitting. UHR has not published the format for the next test. Source: UHR and Nyheter24/TT citing UHR. Checked 18 October 2026. Still to check: breaks, seating and what happens if you arrive late.

Afterwards
UHR’s page about the test does not say how many correct answers you need. Checked 18 October 2026. Here you only see how often you answer correctly. Still to check: how and when you get your result, and how it is sent to Migrationsverket.
