Elections and parties
Elections to parliament, regions and municipalities are held every four years. The European Parliament is elected every five years. You must be 18. The parliamentary election requires Swedish citizenship. In local elections, other residents who have lived here long enough may also vote. The ballot is secret and you can vote early. Seats are proportional. A party needs at least four percent of the vote to enter parliament. Referendums are advisory. In 2003 voters rejected replacing the krona with the euro.
